Valorant: Agent Skills and Teamwork Guide

Valorant isn’t just about shooting; it’s about Agents (characters) with unique powers and how your team uses them together! To win more, you need to understand your Agent’s role and work as a team.

1. Know Your Agent’s Role: Every Agent has a main job on the team.

  • Duelists (like Jett, Reyna):
    • Job: They are the “entry fraggers.” Their job is to go into a site first, get kills, and make space for the team.
    • How to Play: Be confident, push forward, and use your abilities to get into good positions or escape.
  • Initiators (like Sova, Skye):
    • Job: They help find enemies, push them out of hiding, and set up the Duelists for kills.
    • How to Play: Use your recon (finding) abilities to see where enemies are. Use your flashes or stuns to make enemies vulnerable.
  • Controllers (like Omen, Brimstone):
    • Job: They block enemy views with smokes and stop enemies from pushing with fire or poison. They control the map.
    • How to Play: Place your smokes carefully to cut off enemy sightlines or block their advances. Use your damage abilities to force enemies out of cover or stop Spike defuses.
  • Sentinels (like Cypher, Killjoy):
    • Job: They are defensive specialists. They guard flanks (sides), lock down sites, and warn the team about enemy pushes.
    • How to Play: Set up traps (like tripwires or turrets) to catch enemies or give early warnings. Use your abilities to slow down enemies or heal teammates (like Sage).

2. Build a Smart Team (Composition): A good team usually has a mix of these roles:

  • 1-2 Duelists
  • 1-2 Initiators
  • 1 Controller
  • 1 Sentinel
  • Tip: Talk with your teammates about who picks which Agent. Try to have a balanced team so you can handle different situations.

3. Combine Powers (Synergy): The best way to win is to use your Agent’s powers with your teammates’ powers.

  • Attacking a Site: An Initiator (Sova) uses his arrow to find enemies, then a Controller (Omen) smokes off key areas, and finally a Duelist (Jett) dashes in to get kills.
  • Defending the Spike: A Sentinel (Killjoy) puts down a trap on the planted Spike, while a Controller (Brimstone) throws fire to stop enemies from defusing it.
  • Tip: Learn what your teammates’ abilities do, and tell them when you’re going to use yours so you can make strong combos.

4. Adapt to the Map and Enemies: Some Agents are better on certain maps because of their layout. Also, think about what Agents the enemy team picked.

  • Map Choice: Sova is great on maps with long lines of sight. Viper is strong on maps like Breeze.
  • Countering Enemies: If the enemy has a very aggressive Jett, you might pick an Agent with flashes to blind her or slows to stop her.
  • Tip: Don’t always play the same Agent. Learn a few different ones so you can be flexible.

5. Manage Your Money and Ultimates: Remember, some abilities cost money (Creds).

  • Buy Smart: Don’t always buy all your abilities, especially if your team is saving money for the next round.
  • Ultimate Ready? Your “Ultimate” is your strongest power. It charges up over time and with kills. Tell your team when your Ultimate is ready so you can use it together for big plays.

Valorant is a game of skill and brains. By understanding Agent roles, building strong team compositions, and using your abilities together, you’ll be a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield!
